Spotify now has 70000 paid US users
Spotify launched in the United States a week ago on an invite-only basis and already has
70,000 paid US subscribers.
Rhapsody has around 800,000 paid users, but it launched in 2001. Napster was reported to
have 761,000 subscribers before it was bought by Best Buy in 2008. Fellow newcomer Rdio is
reported to have less than 100,000 paid users,The growth would still make it one of the
fastest-growing paid streaming music service in the US.
Pay-per-track services still dominates in the US, where iTunes has about two thirds of
digital music followed by Amazon MP3.
